My first paid Fashion Shoot!

Mon Feb 2, 2009, 12:04 AM
Yay! Last Friday, I did my first paid assignment for a T-Shirt label. Well, a start-up company selling these shirts with a, let's say, quite LOUD slogan, namely

"F*CK YOU YOU F*CkING F*UCK F*UCK" :) (I believe that's a quote from "Blue Velvet"...)

The Label's name is "U. C. KING" and the website is [link]
Check it out and buy the shirt if you like it!

Congrats man =D

Just wondering, and I've been really wanting to ask, so i finally get to while it's fresh in my mind -- Why do you take nude pictures of models and things like that? Do you do it so it could be used as stock (for photmanips) for others, or reference?

Just curious, you don't have to answer if you don't want to =)

Well, the explanation is quite simple, really. There's that credo in photography that one should only take pictures of subjects you like to look at without a camera also.

Simply put, I admire the female body, and I like to look at it. Also, I like to work with people in everything I do (so therefore I am not a landscape or animal photographer but a people photographer). So doing nude photography for me is combining these two statements: capturing that female beauty of a person, and interpreting it (hopefully) artistically through my own eyes. Thereby paying hommage and respect to the models I have the privilege to take pictures of.

It also is extremely challenging to take a picture of a woman and her liking it ... women, even the ones I consider very beautiful, are often their own harshest critic, when their looks are concerned, and if I manage to make them go "wow, I really look great in this", I have done my job well, which gives me pleasure too.

So you do it cause you like to -- You don't get paid for it (except on occasions, like U.C. King ;)), and you just like donig it. That makes sense i think =)

Thanks for answering.

Lots of good lines from Blue Velvet!

"Yes, that's a human ear all right."
"Do it for Van Gogh."

And my own favorite:

"You put your disease in me."

Is that twisted or what?
